St. Patrick’s Day

Well it is a little last minute so maybe these will be some ideas you can use next year! These are the things that I have pulled together, some of this I won’t even use until next year, or perhaps later this month since our lapbook is taking all of March. a>
These are the books that I chose to use:
St Patrick’s Day Shamrocks by Mary Berendes (Science/History)
Patrick Patron Saint of Ireland by Tomie dePaola
St.Patrick’s Day in the Morning by Eve Bunting Illustrated by Jan Brett
Shamrocks,Harps, and Shillelaghs by Edna Barth
A Voyage from Ireland in 1849 (Journey to America, Fiona McGilray’s Story) by Clare Pastore
Kathleen, The Celtic Knot by Siobhan (pronounce sha-vonne) Parkinson (Girls of Many Lands)

Most of these are read alouds if your children are on the younger end.
Some other neat things I have found include recipes and crafts, coloring and activity pages, St Patrick’s Confession English translation, info about Ireland, and even a quiz!

One final cool site , where you can listen to native gaelic speakers from different areas of Ireland. Scroll all the way down and you can choose St Patrick’s Day sayings among others. CAUTION: check this out ahead of time as their are certain things you may not want to accidentally play for the kiddos such as “kiss my %$#” or other things referring to drunkenness and alcohol.
Hope you can use some of these things!
