We have been working on our very first lapbook. This one is on St. Patrick and Ireland. I was quite overwhelmed at the idea of lapbooking when I first saw pictures. At first I couldn’t seem to find any good descriptions of how exactly it was done but recently found a couple good explanations. I will put some links on the sidebar. Maddie and I have been working on this one for about a week and it has been fun. The one we are doing is actually a 3 folder lapbook but they vary in size so if that sounds like too much, just do one folder. We are using just plain old manila file folders but I have seen alot people use patterned or colored folders. The basic idea is that you refold the file folder, make mini-booklets on the subject you are learning about and glue them into the folder. Some people do it totally on their own and some people use a prepared ebook that has the information and booklets to cut out and answer questions about the reading. Check out and type “lapbooks” and look at all the different projects kids have done. Currclick is a great resource for free and cheap lapbooks and other homeschool resources. Also Check my sidebar for more specific sites.

EDIT I had to remove all my affiliate links so I could have my blog back, unfortunely I am not computer literate enough to switch to, if anyone knows an easy blogsite I can switch to where I can have affiliate links, let me know.

Me, neither! Haven’t heard of lapbooks, but I am intrigued and will check out the links you mention in a minute! I LOVE making books, little books, altered books, etc.

Also, I want to say thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment on “what not to say to bookaholics.” Hope you will visit again soon. You can’t tell from my url (egads, i didn’t know how it all worked when I first set up a blog) but I write a lot about books and writing and upbeat stuff encountered along the way! Hope to see you again.
And now, to investigate lapbooks – thanks!
